The Autumn Leaves process:
Students drew leaves and painted these with tempera paint in warm colours, and the background in cool colours. They experimented by putting salt and rubbing alcohol on the wet paint to achieve interesting effects. Lastly, fine outlines were painted in acrylic.
Students loved this challenge...working with a partner what is the tallest free-standing tower you can build using 6 sheets of newspaper, masking tape and string?
Students listened to the fun and colourful story of The Cat and the Bird, based on Paul Klee's painting, Cat & Bird.
They drew their own Klee cat and bird with oil pastel and added colour with food dye wash.
This week Years 3 and 4 completed beautiful flower drawings using Supermix pastels which are extra "creamy" and great to use for blending colours. We talked about Georgia O'Keeffe's artwork and her life as one of the first women who chose to be an artist. This student work can be viewed in the Main Building corridor.
